Description

Finally, 1 Million is an overtly masculine fragrance and quite strong. Therefore, it’s not particularly suitable for unisex wear or for men with more modest palates. However, a women’s version is available called Lady Million. Through a seamless transition, the head subsides to reveal the opulent and sweet heart. A sugar citrus note of neroli bridges the head and heart. Meanwhile, floral notes of rose contrast against warm cinnamon and vivid nutmeg spice.

Aftershave splashes: Aftershave splash is probably what your dad’s dad (and his dad) used. Think of aftershave splashes as you would a toner. They’re more liquid in consistency than lotions and balms, and often contain astringent, disinfecting properties thanks to ingredients like witch hazel. Though they’re fresh and lightly scented, splashes are typically formulated with alcohol (which can irritate the skin and tighten up the pores), so be wary of using such products if you have dry, sensitive skin. Splashes are best used for those with oily skin, as they’re less likely to contribute to the grease (which lotions and balms may do) and instead tone the skin. Ultimately, if you’re a fan of that tingling sensation, a splash is for you. Paco Rabanne 1 Million Eau de Toilette Spray. This is a sure-fire winner and girls love this scent. They will surely be asking what you are wearing. Joop ! Homme Eau de Toilette Spray. You can apply this easily because it comes in a spray. It has a balance between oriental fragrances such as mandarin and jasmine. They’re also formulated to encourage your skin tissues to regrow, which ultimately helps protect your skin and strengthen the barrier. Aftershaves can also be formulated with antibacterial ingredients so that if a cut does occur, bacteria won’t find its way inside and cause acne or further irritation. Finally, many people use aftershaves in place of their daily cologne because they impart a lingering scent that lasts all day.Rinse with warm water: Use warm water (versus cold or scalding hot) to splash your skin, as this will help open up your pores and make for a better shave. Water that’s too cold will close your pores, while water that’s too hot could cause irritation and inflammation. An aftershave is a liquid that is applied to the skin after shaving facial hair. This solution contains certain antiseptic agents that prevent infection of cuts that were caused by shaving. Aftershave products usually contain denatured alcohol and stearate citrate. Rinse your razor frequently: To prevent buildup of hair and shaving cream on your razor, make sure you’re rinsing it between passes. Having product buildup on your razor will keep you from getting the closest shave possible, as the surface will be uneven. Also, the presence of excess product will make you more susceptible to missing certain areas on your face.

This updated concentration of the internationally acclaimed, original Elysium parfum cologne (2017), opens a new and exciting chapter for this iconic scent. A stepped-up and enriched experience in comparison to the founding fragrance, this new Eau Intense reimagines the original by increasing its three defining signatures: fresh, woody and sensual characteristics. The freshness of the top becomes even brighter and more succulent, the woodiness of the base becomes even dryer, warmer and more rounded and the musks become more sensual, bringing an extra depth which runs throughout the fragrance; weightless and luminescent in the top and animalic in the base. This is the reason why there are aftershave manufacturers that make non-alcohol based products so that the users will not experience any stinging effect. There are also aftershaves that have fragrances and essential oils to smell good. They even put moisturisers to soften the skin. All Tom Ford creations share something in common: they have a characteristic confidence, a luxe appeal and the inherent ability to unleash the provocative. Cherry Smoke, a new addition to the designer’s top-tier Private Blend collection, is a spin-off from the successful Lost Cherry fragrance, launched in 2018. A more masculine take on the original amber/floral scent, it intriguingly balances bitter with sweet and lends itself more to evening wear. Opening with a dark sour cherry flavour, enhanced with exotic saffron notes, you are immediately transported to somewhere ‘forbidden’. The heart develops through a bouquet of fragrant and velvety Chinese osmanthus white flowers, supported with facets of apricot, olive and leather. A precious smoked wood accord anchors the base, accented with earthy and spicy cypriol oil. As with all TF productions, the perfumer for this tantalising EDP is undisclosed, adding to its mysterious and simmering persona. An eau de toilette contains more perfume oil than the aftershave (typically around four to eight per cent). This higher concentration means that if you put it on post-shaving, your skin is likely to turn blotchy and red. An eau de toilette lasts around six to eight hours. If you got carried away with shaving and are experiencing razor burn, here are some ingredients to look for in an aftershave.

Inspired by a very old collection of seeds and seedlings gathered by 18th century botanists, Buly’s new Les Jardins Français collection of scents brings to life an intoxicating and unique palette of garden-influenced fragrances. The best of nature transformed into expertly-refined and surprising scents, the collection harvests vegetable-based notes, which have been largely forgotten in perfumery, with aromatic finesse. Like a morning stroll through the vegetable garden and orchard, Iraqi Beetroot And Egyptian Rhubarb is an earthy yet bright genderless fragrance with a subtle but tangy twang. If anything, the head is strongly reminiscent of a well-made Old Fashioned given its bitter, sweet and citrus notes. Heart Notes Crisp, exhilarating, untamed, fresh and aromatic, the latest addition to Molton Brown’s stable of signature, genderless fragrances is actually a contemporary twist on a classic (fern-like) fougère. Composed by MB’s senior perfumer, Nathalie Koobus, it contrasts both stimulating and soothing: the exploration of a cool forest with its shady banks of shrubs, stalks and bushes, against the freedom and adventure of going off-grid.

Le Labo — the NYC-based artisanal perfume house founded by Fabrice Penot and Edouard Roschi — has carved out a niche and earned a loyal following with its luxurious and unconventional hand-blended scents. Thé Matcha 26 is the first new addition to the brand’s Classic Collection of fine fragrances for quite some time; an ode to Japan, composed of 26 raw ingredients. With a complex bouquet of amber, spicy and woody notes, 1 Million tends to fluctuate between the Oriental and Woody family. However, given the prominent agarwood, which we will discuss later, it’s a notable Woody Spicy fragrance. Head Notes If you have sensitive skin, you’ll also want to steer clear of formulas that contain synthetic fragrances. This goes for all skincare products, but especially for aftershaves, which are meant to be used on freshly shaved skin when the skin is raw and susceptible to irritation. Do your research, and look up the best aftershaves for men. Top-of-the-line aftershaves will generally stay away from the nasty stuff and only use premium ingredients.

Influenced by Giorgio Armani’s personal memories and an exploration of nature and culture, the Armani Prive line translates the essence of the designer’s haute couture collections into unique fine fragrances. The latest addition to the collection, Santal Dan Sha, conjures up a refreshing, gentle summertime breeze at dusk and is inspired by the aromatic woody trees and serene lakes of east Asia. Created by master perfumer, Fabrice Pellegrin, it is an enveloping and noble scent made from precious and finely crafted ingredients. Opening with a burst of sparkling Calabrian bergamot fruit, violet leaf accord and warm peppery cardamom heart from Guatemala, the majestic scent develops into a sensual blend of resinous elemi, musks and incense extract. It is however the balmy and creamy sandalwood from New Caledonia, paired with Virgina cedrawood and Dreamwood (a high-tech synthetic note) in its base, that gives this fragrance its defining and lingering signature. Firstly, 1 Million has earned itself quite a polarising reputation. Whilst it’s loved by many as an enduring and seductive fragrance, it’s over-use and popularity has hurt its reputation. Surprisingly, 1 Million is still quite pricey despite its overwhelming popularity. You’d expect its value to drop due to its popularity but the demand must be enough to keep it high. Officina profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, with more than 800 years of history under its belt, is one of the oldest perfumery-businesses still operating today. Its latest collection of fragrances, I Giardini Medicei, pays tribute to the olfactory gardens of the Medici dynasty and rediscovers the Florentine brand’s botanical roots. Composed by Gian Luca Perris, Officina’s maître perfumer, our favourite from the collection of four perfumes is Bizzarria; described as an ode to singularity. Intriguing from the offset, it is inspired by gardens at the Villa Medicea di Castello, where in the 16th century the Medici family started to cultivate citrus fruits and were amongst the earliest to grow lemons, oranges and bergamot. The scent opens with a big, bold ‘Bizzarria’ accord of bitter orange, lemon and etrog (a citrus fruit rarely used in perfumery), seasoned with timur pepper and the unmistakable sweetness of neroli. Heart notes of orange blossom absolute, davana and ginger add to its spirited character before taking its foot off the pedal on a base of cedar-wood and musk.Perhaps a victim of its own success, Paco Rabanne 1 Million is both loved and hated by many. However, despite the reputation around it, it’s still an undeniably good fragrance. Personally, I still find it reasonably enjoyable. Yet it is far from being a favourite today and not something that I could really wear. However, my palate has surely changed with age. Aftershave products are sometimes mistaken as eau de cologne because they are similar in nature. Manufacturers use fragranced aftershaves to increase their sales and to encourage consumers to use their products. Aftershave products are mostly used by men since they are the ones who have facial hair. These products give them a refreshing feeling after shaving. Emporio Armani Diamonds he Eau de Toilette. This has a strong but not overpowering smell that will boost the confidence of any man. Coconut oil: Powered by its emollient-rich properties, coconut oil is an excellent skin hydrator—and perfect for lathering onto your skin after a sloppy shave that has resulted in razor burn. Some studies have shown it also has anti-inflammatory properties. A lot of people unknowingly use the terms interchangeably, but they actually refer to different things. The best aftershaves contain less perfume oil (around one to four per cent) and typically feature soothing ingredients such as aloe vera. The oil concentration here is perfect for post-shaving, when you’ll likely be adding a moisturiser into your skincare mix as well alongside a lotion or after-shave balm. The scent, as a result of its low oil level, lasts around three hours.
