About this deal

Set between the events of the prequel short story collections and the main saga, Season of Storms follows Geralt of Rivia after a contract has gone wrong, and he finds himself without his signature weapons.

Spanning three 70-meter-high walls and covering almost 2,000 sq/m, it is the largest mural in Poland and one of the largest in the world. Yennefer’s skills as a witch are exactly what Ciri needs to hone the power she’s destined to wield — but as Yennefer and Ciri’s bond grows, so too does the evil that seeks Ciri out. Geralt’s determination drives much of this book, as he rallies and gathers allies in an effort to reach Ciri before the rumors of her impending marriage can come true. Geralt must protect Ciri, the child of prophecy who has the power to change the world for good or evil -- but only if she lives to use it.

Although admitting to using Slavic mythology often due to it being "very rich" and abundant, Sapkowski said he does not have any preferred mythologies, folklores or bestiaries that he draws on for monsters in The Witcher; "The story dictates the necessity. This is comprised of five novels, all of which tell the stories of Geralt, Ciri, Yennefer, Triss, Dandelion, and others. CD Projekt Red and Fantasy Flight Games released The Witcher Adventure Game, a board game designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek, [83] in 2014 [84] in physical and digital forms. This is where the bulk of Geralt’s stories unfold, and makes up the main constituent of The Witcher universe at large — at least in terms of Sapkowski’s conception of it.

However, it’s also written after the saga was completed by Sapkowski and contains slight hints about what’s to come, if not outright spoilers. When CD Projekt Red acquired the rights to begin a video game series based on The Witcher, they opted to do something a bit different by making the games a continuation rather than a direct adaptation. And while the earlier series have not been translated to English, Dark Horse Comics started a Witcher series in 2014 based on the storyline from the video games. The writing makes you feel like you are actually living in there and it always keeps you at the edge of your seat. At the same time cynical and noble, Geralt has been compared to Raymond Chandler's signature character Philip Marlowe.

However, if you want to know the ins and outs of the world and ensure that you’re a true Witcher connoisseur, you’ll want to dive deeper into the saga, which is set roughly 10 years before the games and focuses largely on the relationship between Geralt and Ciri. Geralt officially receives his “of Rivia” title after an epic battle while Ciri begins to feel at home with The Rats. While the Sword of Destiny, another short story collection, was actually published a year before, The Last Wish establishes much of the world and introduces many key characters, and thus works better as a starting point.

To me, the general writing style doesn't portray the events or characters in a way that encourages you to become invested in them, this was particularly apparent during, "The Lady of the Lake" which is the culmination of the story that the previous books had been telling.

Shoot, i think the author could have made to series with all these characters and not miss lead me into thinking the series was about the witcher. In the Polish 2002 film and 2002 TV series, she was played by Grażyna Wolszczak and by Anya Chalotra in the Netflix series.

Several books, individual short stories, and segments of this saga were worth well over 5 stars for exuding such realistic emotion, tragedy, and storytelling prowess that it's hard to come to terms with how bad other parts were.In 1997, Sapkowski won the prestigious Polityka's Passport award, which is awarded annually to artists who have strong prospects for international success. Polish video game designer Adrian Chmielarz claimed to have invented the translation of wiedźmin into English as witcher around 1996–1997. The stories were for the most part exciting, sexy, funny, cerebral, yes, cerebral, and the characters well-developed. Plus, decisions made by players in one of the three main games will carry over to the next game in the series, giving hardcore fans who have read the books an amazing opportunity to role-play as Geralt and try to make decisions he would make. A tabletop role-playing game based on Sapkowski's books, Wiedźmin: Gra Wyobraźni ( The Witcher: A Game of Imagination), was published by MAG in 2001.
