About this deal

The Advantage360 Professional features low-force tactile “brown” mechanical key switches and shine-through ABS plastic keycaps to support the optional white backlighting. Have a look through the back catalogue, and you will find reviews of the ZSA Moonlander, the Dygma Raise, the Zergotech Freedom plus some custom built models like the Sofle and the Dactyl Manuform.

However, one day, my right pinky finger began to hurt excruciatingly, and I could not move it in any direction. The way many of these keyboards work with layering makes it a functional requirement rather than a choice. It’s very subtle but I do think it helps to distinguish those keys, especially as most people tend to stick their utility and meta keys on the outer edges. I think it’s pretty likely that Apple thoroughly test their keyboards to make sure Bluetooth works well and that they have low end to end latency.

Concave keywells are scooped into a bowl shape to reduce hand and finger extension and relax muscles.

This bit of historical context is essential to understand the lineage of the Advantage360, evolving from the Kinesis Advantage2 keyboard that they only released a few years back. After all, I bought the Advantage360 mainly because I wanted to adjust the gap between the two halves. That keyboard AFAIK comes along in an own earthquake-proof suitcase and is also bundled with some other gimmicks, like wireless charging and the like. Coincidentally, at about the same time, I started messing around with mechanical keyboards and had just built a GMMK Pro for my PC, so it’s made for an interesting comparison between the two new hardware additions 2.There are 4 buttons in the center columns that have no use on the default layer — they are simply bound to 1, 2, 3, and 4.
